Foodbank Co-ordinator
The Asylum Seeker Project supports asylum seekers in the community living on as little as $33 dollars a week. To support these clients, we stock and maintain a free Foodbank which holds essential food and sanitary items.
We are seeking a volunteer Foodbank co-ordinator to help stock and maintain our Foodbank, as well as coordinating pickup and delivery of items every second Friday. The volunteer may also work closely with the Fundraising Co-ordinator to organise donations of food items from organisations and community groups.
Time commitment: 2 hours a fortnight (fortnightly pickup from Foodbank Victoria in Yarraville and delivery to our building in Carlton)
Admin Support
The Asylum Seeker Project is often in need of Admin relief at our front desk. This requires answering the phone, greeting clients and assisting with basic office duties. Admin relief is needed on an ad hoc basis, often at short notice. Suited for someone with very flexible hours.
Community Engagement Speakers
We are seeking volunteers to speak to a range of community, school and church groups about the Asylum Seeker Project and its activities. Speakers will talk about the work done at the ASP as well as helping to source donations from the people we engage with. Training is tentatively scheduled for March.
Sports Coordinators
We are seeking volunteers to run regular cricket and soccer activities for our clients. Some experience with coaching is preferable but not essential.
Time commitment: 1.5 – 2hrs weekly
Housing and Material Aid volunteer
The Asylum Seeker Project constantly receives material donations of clothing, blankets, bed linen and other household items. We need a volunteer to work closely with our housing workers to manage and organise our donations on a weekly basis.
Time commitment: 1 day a week
Fundraising volunteer
We require a volunteer to assist our Fundraising Co-ordinator to process and manage financial donations to the organisation. The position requires a process-oriented individual who is comfortable doing administrative work and data-entry.
Time commitment: 1 day a week
Driving instructors
We are looking for accredited, qualified driving instructors who can offer free driving lessons to our clients.
Bicycle Access Program Volunteers
We are currently seeking to source and maintain up to 30 bicycles for our clients. We require volunteers to source old bicycles, help to maintain and repair bicycles, as well as to run basic road safety training for clients.
